01Brief

The Drawing Hope Project imagery was frequently assumed to be AI or heavy stock work, years before generative tools existed. That assumption undercuts both the craft and the children's authorship of the original drawings. This behind-the-scenes timelapse takes one composite from blank canvas to finished photograph, every layer and blend visible, as evidence of how the work was actually made.

02Approach
  1. 01Recorded the non-destructive editing workflow inside Photoshop to capture every adjustment layer, mask, and blend mode from start to finish
  2. 02Edited hours of high-resolution screen-capture footage into a fast-paced timelapse video that demystifies the digital compositing process
  3. 03Structured the visual progression to show the exact transition from raw photographic plates to the final fantasy scene
  4. 04Selected and synchronized a clean audio track to build emotional momentum alongside the visual layers
03Outcomes
  • Public, verifiable evidence of the manual craft behind a project covered by The Today Show, ABC World News and MTV News
  • A teaching asset reused in my advanced Photoshop classes at Fanshawe College and in client conversations about process
  • Removed the 'is this stock or AI' question from press and partner discussions about the project
  • A format I still use to make invisible creative labour legible to clients and executives
